Long Lake Michigan Rock in Wrapped in Coffee Calf
Long Lake Michigan Rock in Wrapped in Coffee Calf
The Great Lakes roll and tumble freighters, sailors and rocks. Lake Michigan tosses perfectly smooth ovoid rocks on to the shore. When I lived on her shores, some rocks would come home in my pockets and bags. I have no explanation for why they receive this treatment, some engraved, all tightly wrapped in goat or calf parchment (made by my friends at Pergamena in upstate New York), except to say I just like the way they feel.
This rock is one of the first few I’ve made experimenting with this beautiful, naturally toned, light coffee-colored parchment made from calfskin.
This long, cream-colored rock is wrapped in naturally colored calfskin parchment; it has not been dyed.
It measures 9” by 4”, and is about 1.75” tall.
Though they come from the lake, please keep the rocks dry and out of reach of the dog.
The group shot is for comparison; you will receive one wrapped rock.
