Wrapped Lake Michigan Rock
Wrapped Lake Michigan Rock
The Great Lakes roll and tumble freighters, sailors and rocks. Lake Michigan tosses perfectly smooth ovoid rocks on to the shore. When I lived on her shores, some rocks would come home in my pockets. I have no explanation for why they receive this treatment, some engraved, all tightly wrapped in goat or calf parchment (made by my friends at Pergamena in upstate New York), except to say I just like the way they feel.
This cream colored rock is wrapped in white goat skin parchment. It measures 5.25” by 4’’, and is about 1.75’’ tall.
Group shot is for comparison.
Though they come from the lake, please keep rocks dry, and out of reach of the dog, too.
